Suresh Raina is appointed by Chennai super Kings(CSK) for $5 millions of dollars for the first three seasons of the IPL to play for only Chennai super Kings. Suresh Raina found the form in the second league in the year 2009 scoring 434 runs off 14 matches, he had played at a strike rate over 140.00. He made a Out standing 98 runs off just 55 balls (losing his century due to scoring errors) against Rajastan Royals in finals at centurion in South Africa. . He was the fourth leading-run getter of the tournament in the year 2009 and second for the Chennai Super kings behind holder of Orange-cap M.Hayden. Raina also became the fifth economical bowler of the tournament, by taking 7 wickets in 14 matches in the tournament.
Suresh Raina Performance in IPL 2010 :
all-time run-getter of the Indian Premier league passing the Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist. He also captained the Chennai Super Kings for three matches in the tournament, due to the absence of skipper M.S.Dhoni and took some sensational catches in the field. He scored 520 runs off 16 matches in the tournament, he is the third highest-run getter of the series and the first for Chennai Super Kings. He also awarded "best fielder" of the third season of the IPL by the BCCI ahead of the finals. He scored a vital half-century which turned the final to Chennai Super King's side, who ultimately went to become the champions beating the Mumbai Indians in the finals of third season
At the end of the season, Suresh Raina set the record of highest run-getter in the IPL, with scoring 421 runs in the first tournament, 434 runs in the second tournament, and 520 runs in the third tournament and also taken the most no. of catches in the IPL, that two records are still unbroken.Raina also hit the second maximum no. of sixes after the Australian cricketer Adam Gilchirst in the three editions of the Indian Premier league. He was retained by the Chennai Super Kings also for the Indian Premier league of the year 2013 along with M.vijay, Albie Morkel and captain M.S.Dhoni.
